Bali pre-wedding photos in great locations & with a lovely couple.
I cannot thank this lovely couple from Hongkong enough for the wonderful opportunity to work with them on this lovely Bali pre-wedding photo session.
The bride loves Bali and its natural beauty. And she wanted me to capture the essence of this beauty in her engagement photographs.
On two days before this photo shoot, I spend 6-8 hours driving around researching the perfect places for Yan & Peter’s pre-wedding photos in Bali.
In particular, I was looking for locations such as flower fields, a coconut forest, rock formations and much more.
Everything is this project came together perfectly and it was such a joy working with Yan & Peter.
Let’s see their Bali pre-wedding photographs first:
A turning point for me as a Bali pre-wedding photographer
This was a career-defining project for me. A project like no other before.
You may ask why. I tell you why.
When Yan, the gorgeous bride contacted me she told me that she and her fiancé Peter very much love vintage look photographs. She asked me to apply this vintage look and feel for her Bali pre-wedding photographs.
I was in heaven. Because over the last few years I have been striving to cultivate and hone this very style.
As part of this effort, I more and more use true vintage equipment. Old and hard to find lenses which I source on eBay and Taobao from all over the world.
Those lenses are from the good old days of film photography. No autofocus, no auto- this and no auto- that. All by hand, 100% manually. Technology from a bygone era.
Previously, I used modern technology because I was hesitant and not yet confident to use vintage equipment alone. But for this assignment, I choose to ‘bite the bullet’ and do everything by hand.
It all worked flawlessly !!
That is why I this was a career-defining Bali pre-wedding shoot.
From now on I will use only vintage lenses and do all photography by hand. Even though its hard, but it is very much worth the effort. And the only way to achieve a true vintage look in my photography.
I am endlessly grateful to you Yan & Peter ! Thank you so much.
I hope to see you again sometime in Bali.
